Patient Expectations at Allergy & Asthma Specialists
Thank you for choosing Allergy & Asthma Specialists and welcome to our practice. We are honored to participate in your healthcare needs. At Allergy & Asthma Specialists, we strive for excellence in patient care. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of care in the comfort of a community practice.
You can expect to be at our office for 1-2 hours during your initial visit. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Our providers will engage in a lengthy consultation with you to focus on understanding your health history and conduct a thorough evaluation. This will include understanding your symptoms, doing a complete investigation into other factors you may not associate with your conditions such as pets, sleep habits, environmental factors, diet and various other medical conditions. If you have any other lab results or previous allergy treatment results, please bring them with you so that our team can gain a better understanding.
After completing an in-depth investigation, including exams and any necessary tests, we will create a specific and highly personalized treatment plan to help you lead the quality of life you desire. We understand that everyone has a busy life and that everyone’s time matters. We offer multiple days for shot clinic and a late hours for exams. We also recommend the most conservative and cost-effective treatments first. We treat our patients the way we would want to be treated.
Please be sure to bring the following with you on your first visit:
- Photo ID
- Medical insurance cards for primary and any secondary insurance, if applicable
- Completed New Patient Forms. This can be found under the Patient Resources tab in the menu above.
- Any referral, if required by your insurance.
Please do not take any of the following medications/antihistamines 3 days prior to your appointment in order to accurately perform any allergy testing if advised when making your appointment. However, if you feel this may adversely affect your medical condition, please discuss with the provider at your first visit.
- Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Chlor Trimenton
- Claritin or Alavert (loratadine)
- Zyrtec (cetirizine) or Xyzal (levocetirizine)
- Allergra (fexofenadine)
- Hydroxyzine
- Astelin/Astepro nasal spray
- Any over-the-counter medication that is labeled “cold/sinus,” “allergy relief,” or “sleep aid/night time relief” as it may contain antihistamines which interfere with allergy testing
